Hi, for those of you still following my blog, this is the first day of my retirement. It will be strange not to go back to the credit union but a vacation will solve that problem!

Hi, just a note to those who use their credit card or Global Payment Card at the gas pumps. If you swipe your card at the pump itself then a hold goes onto your account for $100 whether or not you spend that much. That hold will not come off for ten days. Their is also a concern that unless you press “Cancel” at the end of your transaction, the next person may get their gas on your card as well!
Here is my hint… pay inside! I do.

Thanks for reading my blog over the past few years. I have enjoyed passing on financial and technical details on here to you from the credit union. I have had many comments posted and feel this is a great communication device for businesses.
As I am retiring from this credit union at the end of January, I hope someone from OMISTA will take up the torch and start a dialogue with you, the online crowd!
Again, thanks for reading my blog and if you are in the Fredericton Branch area before the end of the month, stop by and say so long! Watch out for my retirement party announcement!

The votes were cast last night and it was a YES to amalgamation. SO as of January 1st, 2010 we will become part of OMISTA Credit Union and hopefully be able to contribute more to our community and take care of more of our owners needs. I will try to keep you posted on any changes that may effect you… so stay tuned!

There will be a special meeting of our membership to discuss and vote on a proposed amalgamation between us and OMISTA Credit Union from Moncton. We have been in official talks with OMISTA Credit Union for almost a year and the suggested merger date would be January 1st, 2010. The meeting and vote will be held at the Fredericton Inn, 6pm, December 2nd, 2009.
We have all sorts of information for our owners to look at before the meeting so come on in and ask us about it. We require two thirds of the owners attending the meeting to vote yes, to go ahead.
OMISTA is a large credit union with three branches in Moncton. It has 7400 owners and about three times the assets of York Credit Union! Here is a link to their website:
http://www.omista.com/
Together we would be the second largest credit union in New Brunswick! The head office would be in Moncton and we would become two branches of OMISTA. Dennis Williams, our manager, would retire early next year. The initial Board of Directors of the amalgamated Credit Union would consist of 14 directors -12 selected from the current OMISTA board and two selected from our board. The by-laws allow for two regional directors from this area from then on. The amalgamated credit union would have standard pricing on all of its products and services.
If you have any questions about this proposal, you can call us or just leave a comment at the end of this blog which will come directly to my email.
Don’t forget, we are a credit union where you do have a say!
